my little corner of the internet to DISH on the latest happenings of my favorite TV shows! This blog is opinion based only, so read if you dare.
So, the GodMother cues up her DVR on this BLUSTERY, BITTER COLD Saturday January morning (because I am not going out in this weather today!!) and I am watching The People's Choice Awards. As with any long show like this, I will only comment on the most interesting or funny moments, review the fashions and all of the beautiful people.
Queen Latifah is the show's host, I love her by the way and although she is a larger woman , she always looks great, dresses appropriately for her figure, just plain awesome! I actually like her better as a movie actor than I do a singer (think her old school tune..."U-N-I-T-Y, it's a unity").
I was pleasantly surprised to see that "The Proposal" won for Best Comedy (I really liked that movie, Sandra Bullock is wonderful), however I totally called "The Hangover" to win (that was clearly funnier!). Who is VOTING for these People's Choice Awards? 12 year olds (that weren't allowed to watch The Hangover)?
When Modern Family's Sofia Vergara came out, I was actually amazed that her accent really is as thick in person as it is on that show! I am sure that men love her.
Alyson Hannigan won for Best Actress in a Comedy, I like her so much on CBS' "How I Met Your Mother" (one of the GodMother's favorite comedy shows on TV). However, every time I see her outside of that show, I can't help but think of the infamous scene from American Pie ... all of you entertainment buffs out there..you know what I am talking about..."This one time... at band camp......"
Favorite Female Country Artist goes to Carrie Underwood - no surprise there (although when the camera cut to Taylor Swift, she looked stunned that she didn't win - I mean, isn't this the one award she hasn't won this year?). Carrie is beautiful as always, she has an amazing stylist.
Sandra Bullock has won again for Best Actress in a Drama (for "The Blind Side"). Here is where I will comment on her beauty.. she is amazing, she doesn't change, looks the same as she did 10 years ago and her hair, makeup, dress - all FABULOUS. Her emotional speech was very humble and it's why we all love her.
Meanwhile, Ashton Kutcher sported a Bow-Tie. LAME-O. Seriously, Ashton? That look is not working for you. And P.S., Ashton, please do more funny movies, we miss you in Hollywood! (with all the flattery that I've given you, I am sure you are going to jump right on my request).
OK, my favorite part of the night was when L.L. Cool J came out. Uncle L !! He is an all around entertainer - huh? Pour some on the block for L.L. Taylor Swift wins for Favorite Female Artist - surprise surprise, Taylor wins again, although the competition was pretty stiff (Britney spears, Beyonce, Pink, Carrie Underwood). Now she is no longer sitting there all shocked that she didn't win (from earlier). I have to admit, GodMother of TV is not a fan of Taylor Swift, I think she has the singing talent of any teenage girl with a decent voice. I will never get the performance she did with Def Leppard out of my head (horrendous). The only reason she is famous is because she has the looks and the song writing skills to go with her average singing.
Johnny Depp comes out - he is named Decades Best Actor (which decade .... the last one or this new decade.. not sure??).... I am such a huge fan of this man. No other actor of our generation is as talented as he is. He can play any role, odd roles that no one wants nonetheless, but any role (can we say Tim Burton's freakish movies???)
